Canada Tourist Visa is also known as Canada Temporary Resident Visa (TVR). This visa guarantees you a maximum stay of six (6) months in Canada.

The Canadian Tourist Visa consists of two (2) types; The single-entry visa and the multiple-entry visa. Both visas are valid for a certain period of time, after which the visa holder would have to apply again.

The single entry visa guarantees the visa holder to enter Canada only once, after which he/she would apply for a new visa to re-enter Canada.

The multiple entry visa guarantees a visitor to come and go to Canada for six months without having to reapply each time. However, this type of visa can only be valid for a period of ten (10) years.

Canada Tourist Visa Requirements and Eligibility Criteria

In order to meet Canadian eligibility requirements, you must provide immigration authorities with the following:

  • You need a valid passport and other travel documents
  • you must be healthy
  • You must have good moral conduct
  • That you do not intend to seek employment while in Canada
  • That you agree to comply with the laws of Canada
  • In some cases you will also need a letter of invitation
  • You must have the financial capacity to pay for your expenses while in Canada.
  • You must be able to convince the immigration authorities that you will leave the country before your visa expires.

Steps to Apply for a Canadian Tourist Visa

Before applying for a Canada tourist visa, you need to be sure of your eligibility status. You should review the visa/permit requirements on the CIC website to ensure you qualify. Follow the procedures below to apply for a Canada tourist visa.

Step 1: Decide how to apply:

You can apply either online or on paper. To apply online, you should use a scanner or camera and have your credit card ready to be behind your application process.

If you are applying on paper, you should download your visa application form and follow the steps in the form.

Step 2: Fill out the tourist visa application form:

Here you have to be careful. Read the user manual carefully and fill out the application form. Your application may be rejected if you do not provide all required information, documents and fees.

Step 3: Payment of the processing fee:

At this stage, you should pay the processing fee. Your fees must be paid via the recommended cashier’s check or certified check. Please refer to the schedule of fees for current fees and bank details.

 Step 4: Visit the local Canada Visa Application Center (CVAC):

Visit your local Canada Visa Application Center (CVAC) or Canadian consulate. Don’t forget to bring your passport or photographs, completed forms and all supporting documents as per checklist and CIC Fee Instrument and Payment Instructions.

Step 5: Submit your application form:

At the local Canada visa Application Center (CVAC), submit your completed application and pay your service fees and receive your receipt.

This receipt will contain your unique tracking number, which is essential for monitoring the progress of your application online. You will also be required to provide your biometrics.

Track your application online with your unique tracking number.
