M/D Totco, a division of Varco, designs control equipment and software that
collects, displays, analyzes and store drilling data to; provide vital
interfaces between the operator and other stakeholders via wireless and
internet technology.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to lead the local
engineering group, work ¡§Hands-On¡¨ to develop, modify and integrate computer
and software programs offered within the M/D Totco group of product solutions
and manage the recourses and deliverables of the department. The incumbent will
work closely with members of Operations, Marketing, Sales, and New Product
Development.

The successful candidate will have the following work experience and
skills:

– Computer Programming Degree (or equivalent);
– 10+ years¡¦ experience in software development required; history to include
applications development for ¡§thick¡¨ and ¡§thin¡¨ client/server environments,
graphical user interfaces, embedded systems, and firmware based applications.
Business Integration and System Architecture skills preferred;
– A proven track record in a leadership, mentoring and supervisory capacity.
– Excellent Oral and Written communication skills;
– Specific skills include: C/C++, Java, ASP, JSP, web application design and
development, database programming skills (e.g. JDBC, ODBC and basic schema
design.) Communications programming (TCP/IP Sockets and Serial protocols),
Microsoft MFC / Windows , and Assembler (Intel/Motorola);
– Desired: Experience with LEX & YACC, Windows and Linux systems
programming (interrupt handlers, device drivers, and kernel extensions);
– Experienced handling managing project baselines;
– Ability to travel both domestically and internationally. Travel expectations
are considered ¡¥light¡¦ to ¡¥moderate¡¦.
– Formal knowledge and experience with ISO 9000 processes and Six Sigma is
desirable.
– An understanding of drilling processes and rig operations is of benefit.
